30 Year High School Reunion

30 Years. I can't believe I have been out of high school for 30 years. It doesn't seem possible. Last night Ty and I attended my reunion. I graduated from Palm Springs High School. It was held at the old Canyon Country Club now called Indian Canyon Country Club. We walked in and boy have many people changed. I didn't recognize alot of people, I had to look at their tags. I think the guys changed more than the ladies. I didn't attend my 20th so not seeing people in 20 years they really change. At the 10 year no body really changes. Most of the ladies are pregnant or just had a baby. Now at the 30th there were alot of Grandma's. I can wait another couple years for that title. We actually had a celebrity in the class. We have a guy who stars on the show ("The Housewives of the O.C.) I never have watched the show personally so I didn't know what everyone was talking about. We started the evening by having our pictures taken and then had time to mingle with the crowd before dinner was served. My sweet husband went with me even though he had worked all day and had only been home about 30 minutes to quickly take a shower and get dressed. I know he did it just for me and I love that he did. Lucky there was a TV there so he could check and take sneak peaks at the USC game that was playing. He was content being with my good friend Jacquie's husband (who didn't know anyone either)and sitting and watching the game. I had a great time mingling with Jacquie and other friends. Alot of my really close friends were not there. They have either moved far away or had a conflict with the night. Jacquie and I had so much fun just trying to recognize who people were. Your memory seems to go with age. Dinner was served and then we had a group pictures taken. Then they did a raffle. I sat down and said I never win anything so our table was talking when all of a sudden my number was called. Sure enough I won a prize. We stayed until the very end. It is alot of fun reconnect

My last one is a TEENAGER - OH no!

JARED TURNS THE BIG 13 TODAY

I can't believe my last one is a teenager. Where have these 13 years gone. Jared is our funny one. He can make anyone laugh.Jared kinda gets the raw end of the deal having a summer birthday because friends are on vacation and then its too hot to do anything else. So this year we went as a family to Soup Plantation (one of Jared's favorite places) and then to the movies to see Grown Ups.

NEW STAKE PRESIDENCY ANNOUNCED

Posted by Picasa

A new Stake Presidency was announced today at church. This was a real whirlwind of a weekend. We had just returned from a week away in Utah with Jared at Basketball Camp at BYU. We arrived home on Friday afternoon. At 10:30 a.m.on Saturday Ty was scheduled to meet with Elder Hafen. He returned from his interview and hours went by. No phone call. Then around 4:00 p.m. we received a call asking for both he and I to come back to the Stake Center. Elder Cordova and Elder Hafen interviewed me first and then had Ty come in. What a great experience to be in the room with these two men. They were very sincere and thoughtful of our family and our needs. When Ty came into the room with us they said we would like to extend the calling of First Counselor in the Stake Presidency to you. WOW - Was my first thought. This is a big one! Then my thoughts turned to I am so proud of my husband and who he is and what he stands for. He has such a strong, strong testimony of the gospel and the scriptures. He is my rock! I know that this new Presidency will be a great one. They all have many things to bring to the Stake from their various callings.

It all started with Lunch. Laurie Carlyle, Myra McRae, Lori Jackman and Alysa and I went to my favorite place El Ranchito Taco Shop. It has the best tacos. We went to the new one by Sam's in Palm Desert. It was really nice and clean. We had a blast. I am so lucky to have such good friends who take such good care of me on my Birthday. They always make me feel so special. Thanks again gals for the fun day. Then later that night I got to spend my evening with my fellow Birthday friends Alysa and Jenie. This year it just so happnened that our Birthdays were all in one week. Jenie was Monday, Mine on Wednesday and Alysa's on Friday. How lucky am I to share my Birthday with such great women. We met for Yogurt at Yogurt Island along with a few of our other friends and (Jef) and closed the place down.

Easter Sunday

What could be better Easter and General Conference? I can't tell you how forward I look to General Conference. Not only do I love to hear the words of our Prophets and General Authorities but I also love this time with the family. We have a great breakfast (sorry I forgot to take pictures) but we had scrambled eggs, hash browns and cinnamon rolls. We were not only physically fed but also spiritually fed. I just loved all the talks but the afternoon session really stuck out to me with all the talks regarding our youth. I can't wait to watch them over and over. Thank goodness for DVR's.

My boys love the fact that I still do Easter gifts. I think they would be disappointed if I didn't. As you can see the presents have changed over the years. It use to be toys and candy and now it is - Car wash soap and febreeze for Cam's car. Gladware for Kirk so he can take his lunches to school and work, a basketball for Jared of course because he loves Basketball so much and Nick looks like he got nothing but he got a thing for his video games but I never got a picture of that. They also all got new socks since we go through black socks around here like they were candy. Luckily everyone wears the same size. I hope everyone had a great Easter and General Conference Weekend.

Utah Broadhead's come to Visit

Looks like all we did is sit around. We really didn't. We just always crashed after a full day of fun!

Scott and Toni and kids arrived last Friday night. We couldn't wait for them to come. They just wanted to get away from the snow and cold and thaw out here in the warm Desert. We heated the pool and the weather was great. On their first morning bright and early Toni, Kirk, Jessica and I ran(walked) in the Ward 5K. It was a beautiful day. Toni was a good sport. I told her I was going to give her alot of exercise when she came. On Monday I then took her on the Bump and Grind Hike. This is a pretty tough hike and Toni made it all the way. Then the next day I took her on the hike to the cross. She liked this hike much better then the day before. We needed to do all this exercise because of the way we were eating. We ate pretty much all the time. What else do Broadhead's do when they get together? We took them to Yogurt Island the first night they were here and then went back at least 3 times. They even snuck over there on their way out of town. I introduced Toni also to one of my favorites Panera Bread. The kids took them to their favorite Chipotle. The home of the 1200 calorie burrito. We had so much fun. We always have fun playing games and just being together. We are sure glad we purchased a new couch not to long ago so we could all fit. I think it has been at least 4 years since they have been here and we hope they won't make it so long between visits.

Kirk and Jessica started College today. They are attending Santa Barbara Business College (SBBC)located in Palm Desert. They are doing the Personal Trainer Certification Program. This program is an intense 10 month program and at the completion of the Program they will be Certified Personal Trainers. We are so proud of Kirk for following his passion. As you may know, Kirk has done a complete makeover of himself all on his own. He lost 90 pounds all together. Exercise and nurtrition have become his life.

UP, UP AND AWAY

Jared and Brother Belmont are Home Teaching Companions and after Home Teaching last Saturday Brother Belmont asked Jared if he wanted to go for a plane ride in his plan. Of course Jared said yes and was so excited to tell me when he return from Home Teaching. So they set up a Tuesday since Jared gets out of school early that day. I followed them over to the airport thinking I would just wait there until they got back or drive to wherever they were flying to. Well Jared was in for a big surprise. When I asked what time they thought they would return Brother Belmont said that they would be flying all the way to Upland (which is an 1 1/2 drive away) and dropping the plane off to sell. Sis. Belmont would then follow them in the car and take them back. I was alittle nervous at first. Sis. Belmont said no need to worry that Bro. Belmont was an excellent Pilot. I had no doubt. Jared was so excited. Brother Belmont spent alot of time showing Jared all the ins and outs of flying the plan. So they took off from Bermuda Dune Airport and it took them about 1 hour and 1/2 in flying time also. Jared got to steer and turn the plan. He was so excited when they got back. He couldn't stop smiling. What a chance of a lifetime for him. We are so blessed to have such wonderful people like the Belmont's in our Ward.

A FULL AFTERNOON OF MARIO BROS. WII

The Cavaliers had a big upset on Saturday after losing to the Nuggets 32 to 50. For some reason their game was just not on. They were also missing their teammate Kyle for he was on the injured list. So Jared and Carson thought they would drown their sorrows in a full afternoon and into the night Mario Bros. Wii Marathon. They had a blast. Ate some pizza. Had barbecues hamburgers and Carson even tried a new type of french fry. He thought it was zuchinni at first but when he tasted it he liked it.

AFTER CHRISTMAS IN TOOELE

We were honored to be able to attend the Belmont's Sealing in the Salt Lake Temple and while we were up there we got to visit my brother-in-law and sister-in-law and kids. We had the best time despite the cold. We left on the day after Christmas and drove to St. George and stayed with my sister and her family. Then we left the next day for Tooele. We enjoyed ourselves playing games like spoons, apples to apples and phase 10. Ty throughly enjoyed spoons (ha,ha) but what else do you do when it is 20 degrees outside. The next morning Ty went to the store and it was 6 degrees. He had to scrap all the ice off the windows so he could see. We are definitely desert rats because we were freezing. But the cold or snow didn't stop us from going sledding. Nick and Jared were the only ones with us and they had never gone sledding before so we bundles everyone up and headed out to the hills by my in-laws house. My sister-in-law Toni talked me into going down the hill on a tube. It was a blast.
